Expert: Sinjini De Sarkar Sinjini is a Sustainability Consultant with KPMG’s Deal Advisory and Strategy team, holding a finance degree from NMIMS Mumbai. With 4 years of experience, she works extensively with financial institutions and companies to develop robust sustainability strategies. Certified SCR GARP in 2022, Sinjini specializes in ESG strategy and reporting, including CSRD and CS3D with vast experience working with European clients. I'm deeply passionate about leveraging finance to bring constructive changes to benefit the climate and people, actionable through work in social mobility and renewable energy financing. Chapter 2: Sustainability This chapter discusses the broad topic of sustainability, particularly as it relates to public policies, corporate actions, and financial institutions. The chapter starts by defining sustainability and differentiating it from both environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues and climate risk. This chapter also discusses international goals on sustainability, notably UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The specific Learning Objectives for this chapter are as follows: • Define and explain sustainability and its three different aspects. • Define and explain Environmental Social Governance (ESG), Corporate Responsibility, and Sustainable Development. Understand how different entities use these concepts to implement and report sustainability and climate practices. • Explain the relationship and intersection among sustainability, ESG, and/or climate change. • Describe the key features of the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Millenium Development Goals (MDGs). etc.
