Ecovadis and B-Corp are two widely recognized frameworks for assessing and certifying companies' commitment to sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility.
Ecovadis focuses on evaluating a company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, providing a score based on key metrics. In contrast, B-Corp certification is a holistic assessment that certifies companies meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
EcoVadis -
EcoVadis is a globally recognized sustainability ratings platform that assesses the environmental, social, and ethical performance of companies across various industries. Founded in 2007, EcoVadis provides a comprehensive and standardized framework to evaluate corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices, covering areas such as environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Companies are scored on a scale of 0 to 100, and the results are used to foster transparency, drive improvements, and facilitate responsible supply chain partnerships. With thousands of companies participating worldwide, EcoVadis has become a key tool for businesses aiming to enhance their sustainability credentials and align with global ESG standards.
B-Corp -
B Corp, short for Benefit Corporation, is a certification awarded to companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Administered by the nonprofit organization B Lab, the B Corp certification evaluates businesses across five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Unlike traditional certifications that focus solely on a single issue, B Corp takes a holistic approach, encouraging companies to operate as forces for good balancing profit with purpose.
Certified B Corps are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders, not just shareholders, making it a powerful framework for businesses committed to long-term sustainability and ethical responsibility.
Let’s explore what sets EcoVadis and B-Corp apart by examining key aspects such as their focus areas, target audience, and assessment methodologies.
